How I Like My In-N-Out

Everyone has their own way of customizing their In-N-Out order.

Here's mine:

Hamburger. Animal Style. Extra Toast. Whole Grilled Onion. Fries Well-Done.

"Animal Style" because that's essentially adding extra flavor with mustard, chopped grilled onion, and pickles.

"Extra Toast" because the best part of an In-N-Out burger is the texture contrast between the crunchy lettuce, the steamy soft meat, and the crispy griddle-toasted bun--and you can't ask them to make the lettuce extra crunchy.

"Whole Grilled Onion" because raw is too strong.

And "Fries Well-Done" because without the extra few minutes of frying, In-N-Out's fries are floppy and prone to sogginess.

How do you like your In-N-Out?

I order mine the exact same way, but without the extra toast. Will have to try that some time.

Ugh, I miss In-N-Out soo much!

@pamguin - extra toast was a real game changer for me. def worth a try.

@andy - whole grilled is different than regular grilled onion. it's a much better experience and after learning about it I never order regular grilled onions anymore.

here's mine:

extra toast, both with (that's whole grilled & raw onions), and mustard fried

i get my fries light well as i find the quality of well done fries at the tustin marketplace to be too variable. sometimes they're fried so long that it's hard as rocks.

Pamguin,

Yes! I've also found that the "Extra Toast" even makes your burger travel slightly better!

Andy,

Yes, as Greg said, the "Whole Grilled Onion" is actually one whole slice of onion (the kind they usually put on the regular burger) but just fried a little longer. And when I ask for it *AND* "Animal Style", I'm actually getting both kinds of grilled onion--the chopped grilled onions and the whole grilled. So I've got two different types of onion in there!

The regular chopped grilled onions in the "Animal Style" is good, but I always want that extra onion snap that the chopped grilled lacks.

Greg,

"Light well"! That's something new I didn't know was an option. I wonder if there's a "hard well", because I actually love it those fries that are nearly Pik-Nik.

I have found the fries to be unedible....dont see the appeal of the burgers either.

Here's mine:
--cheeseburger
--whole grilled onions & raw onion
--neopolitan shake if I'm feeling fancy
--fries light... i like them floppy and soggy
--peppers and extra spread on the side.

Anon,

Though we disagree, I thank you the comment!

Briannie,

Yes! Neapolitan shakes for the win!
